Frequently Asked Questions About Garage Doors

Please browse through our FAQs to find answers to your questions about garage door repairs and installation.

What can I expect when I call for garage door repair service?

When you call in we will assess your problem over the phone and figure out the availability of our techs near you. Then we will schedule a time for them to come out. Sometimes it’s right away, and sometimes when our techs are busy we’ll give you a 1-2 hour range. Then we have our techs give you a call when they are on their way so you know exactly when to expect them. After that, you get your garage door serviced and you’re on your way!

When can you get my garage door repaired?

It’s all about timing. Sometimes there will be a technician near you that isn’t busy or just got off a job. In that scenario it can be as little as 30 minutes to an hour. If they are busy you may have to wait a bit, but we almost always are able to get you same-day service.

How much is it to just have someone take a look?

Our service team can usually give you a pretty good estimate for free when you describe the problem over the phone. It’s a $30 service fee to have our expert technicians come out and see what the problem is. Once they’ve seen the problem they can give you an exact quote.

How does payment work?

You can pay with cash, card, or check with our technician while they are there. We do not charge anything until we’ve quoted you a price and done the work.

How will I know when the technician is coming?

We always have the technicians call when they are close so that you know exactly when to expect them.

Do you sell parts?

No. We are a garage door repair company. We service garage doors, but we do not sell individual parts.

Why did my garage door spring break?

Usually it isn’t anything you did wrong. Springs have a useful life and when that time is up they usually break in half. Home owners replace their spring about every 3-6 years on average.

Could I have prevented my spring from breaking?

There are preventive maintenance steps you can take to prolong the life of your spring. But all garage door springs break eventually and will need replacement.

Will you take the broken spring?

Yes, we do take the broken spring with us when we replace it with a new one unless you want to keep it.

Do you guys fix 2-spring systems?

Absolutely! Whether you have a one or two garage door spring system, we have the tools and experience to fix it.

What kind of openers do you fix?

We service all kinds of openers: Lift Masters, CHI, Mid-America Door, Amarr, just to name a few. Just give us a call and we’ll come take a look!

What could have caused the opener to break?

Plenty of things. A battery could have died, a fuse could have gone out, a circuit could have fried, or any number of other things. Also, sometimes it isn’t necessarily an opener problem. The opener and all the mechanical parts must be in proper working condition for your garage to work. In any case, our techs can get you up and running in no time!

Will you take the broken opener?

Yes, haul away and disposal is included unless you want to keep your opener.

What if I'm stuck in my garage?

There should be a red rope next to your opener that you can pull to put it in manual mode. Once it’s in manual mode, you should be able to easily move your garage door. If not, your door is off balance and you should let the tech know.

What do I do if my rollers are really loud?

White lithium grease spray is very good for fixing this kind of problem. It can also prolong the life of your door by making not have to work so hard. However, if your door is loud, it may be wise to have a professional see if there is a bigger issue.

Do you guys sell roller parts?

No. You can try to do it yourself, but that will cost you much more time and effort than if you had us do it. Also we have professionals, so you can be sure that you are getting a quality repair that will last.
